Arash Barmaan: The Man behind BOOS

Arash Barmaan was born in Los Angeles. His parents are middle eastern who had the same hopes as other middle eastern parents that he would grow up to become a lawyer, doctor or engineer. Unfortunately, Arash on the other hand, had an interest in Basketball and wanted to become an NBA player. He followed the path he wanted to and played basketball in high school. But after getting cut out of the high school basketball team due to some racist profiling issues, he made it his goal to practice hard and make it in the Santa Monica College men’s basketball team. To make sure they did not have any reason to reject him.
When the time for tryouts came, there were not many spots as many of them were reserved for recruits and members of the returning team. Arash did not give up. He believed he still had a chance and in the further years he decided to play overseas and later try for the NBA as this will increase his chances to become a professional basketball player. He thought that this was the best career for his future.
Unfortunately, things were not in his favor as all the odds were stacked up against him. From his genetic background to his origin, he would not be able to become a successful player. Even if he did, it would drain him out more and he would be banged up when he retires.
All these incidents took him towards a new direction. Apart from being a basketball player he wanted to become a CEO of a business. He thought and decided on an application. After some time, he came up with his own application, BOOS, which is an online dating app for Persian-Jewish community. It worked out better for him. Although, he still wants to become an NBA trainer one day and fulfill his dream.
Arash is currently transferring to the University of Miami and will be completing his degree in sports administration. While maintaining his application alongside as well.
