Growing up near a small airport in the Midwest, Jeff’s imagination took flight. He wondered about the mysterious destinations and the adventurous souls aboard those planes. However, he thought the only way to achieve that dream was through military service.
So, off he went, diving headfirst into a military career, all in pursuit of his goal. Unfortunately, he didn’t get the chance to fly those military planes he dreamed about. But you know what? Jeff is one resourceful guy. He made the most of the GI Bill in the ’90s and got his private pilot license.
Jeff’s passion for aviation didn’t stop at just being a private pilot. He went on to earn multiple certifications to explore all sorts of roles in the industry. Certified Weather Observer, Marketing Manager for Tanis Aircraft Products, F-16 Avionics Technician, FAA Airway Transportation Systems Specialist, Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor—you name it, he’s been there.
Jeff realized throughout his journey in aviation that it could be long and costly for others who share the same dream, and he wanted to change that. That’s when the Open Air Flight Club was born. Jeff’s mission? To make aviation accessible to everyone, especially young dreamers.
He knows that kids and their parents often have no clue about the ins and outs of the aviation world. Googling how to fly or work in aviation only leaves them feeling overwhelmed.
Jeff wants to provide a clear and speedy path for children to reach their aviation dreams without getting lost in the clouds.
