Based in Mumbai, India, Armeen Jasavala is a passionate ex-pat from Toronto, Canada, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Health and Education from the University of Toronto and a diploma in Homeopathic medicine.
She wanted to gain more clinical experience in her field, and decided to travel to her mother’s home country of India, where some of the best homeopathic physicians practice. Her own experience and expertise led her to work as an international coordinator and editor in the same institute that she studied in, and she was also an active team member of Sampoornam Healing, where she organized holistic health retreats for individuals, combining homeopathy, meditation, nature therapy, movement/art, and music therapy, to heal the mind and body.
After suffering from physical illness and burnout due to her work in the medical field, She knew that she needed to have more balance between her mind and body in order to achieve better health and a sense of peace. Initially, it was difficult for her to grasp life without her work, but eventually she eased into a life of living in the moment, practicing mindfulness, gratefulness, self-care, and taking actions to aid her mental and physical well-being.
In 2020, she and her husband also took the concept of going green very seriously. They purchased two acres of barren land 125km outside the chaotic city of Mumbai, and developed it into a private cabin in the woods, complete with a swimming pool, and an outdoor bar and kitchen. Over two years, the couple decided to plant their own forest and have watched over 700 native trees grow and thrive. They also adopted four puppies who were abandoned on the roadside in Goa. At age 35 and 38, Armeen and her husband have created their own forest haven retreat, away from the hectic pace of city life, where every weekend they spend time in their growing forest with their dogs. She describes this journey as nothing short of magical.
During her ten-year journey in Mumbai, she also discovered and embraced a plant-based diet. Whole foods, organic fruits and vegetables are her go-to choices, and she excludes all animal and dairy products from her life. Going plant-based helped her achieve many benefits including an increase in overall energy, improvement in mood, sleep and fitness, and also marked changes in her physical state. Moreover, she found a new passion for creating wholesome and easy plant-based recipes that she shares on Instagram.
Armeen lives by practicing gratitude and believes that appreciating the smallest things that we often take for granted can enhance one’s happiness quotient in life. She advocates mindfulness through mindset and behavioral changes as a way to thrive. In her unique way, she is piquing peoples’ curiosity about thoughtful, natural living, which, in turn, goes a long way in keeping our planet sustainable for generations to come.
